K, thanks.

im Not really looking for the fancy stuff. I wanted a steam gauge 172 so looks like I would have to spring for the 90 version to get one of those.

but since they’re making it too hard to figure out how to buy it I’ll probably just pass.

not really interested in getting an Xbox game pass subscription.
The 747 and the Airbus leave a lot to be desired... Systems are wonky and they fly weird.

The little (fun) stuff, is pretty amazing though. I've been island hopping in the icon, and playing with the Cessnas for fun. This is more of a game than P3D in my opinion but it's still kind of fun. A couple of screen shots below... And if I didn't have a computer that could already run this I wouldn't buy one. It's just not worth it.

Thanks for the input. my computer is ancient - it’s 6 yrs old. An i7-4790k 32gb with a GTX 1070. So would probably struggle to run it and I’m not really interested in dropping money for a new rig to run the latest stuff.

I'm glad I stuck with only the $90 version (!) I tried a flight from AGC-EWR in the CJ4 and was not impressed with ATC, the dynamics of the CJ4 or the autopilot. I'm going to stick the flying the Cubs into grass fields or zooming along rivers with them. I will say that having a computer that can run this thing maxed out or close to it makes all the difference. Flying the FQM3 arrival to EWR and the associated area looks like the same thing I've seen in real life for 7 years now. I'll gladly pay for the third party "heavy metal" stuff when it shows up, like I have in the past.

Yeah, I'm waiting until PMDG brings their 737 to the game before I indulge in the tubeliners.

As far as I can tell, it's the same crappy ATC that was in FSX. I guess they anticipate not many people using ATC, and if they're hardcore enough to do so, they'll be using VATSIM.

I am told the ATC has added in speed restrictions and SID\STARS, and I've seen videos where there is request for push clearance now(not sure if the game is smart enough to have you hold\give way or just always says "yes" though), so it did improve. A lot of people fly offline and want realistic ATC regardless of VATSIM because they have real life AI traffic in the sim and want to see all the planes they would in real life. VATSIM is rarely busy enough to replicate a real life class B airport in full swing, but when they ATC and pilots are all on, it's very realistic.

That's true, I have seen the speed restrictions. The voices are better as well, obviously. Otherwise, it seems very similar to what we had in FSX.

Being able to have a custom n-number and callsign is cool too.

Just running in to a burning house...
I sorta get flight Sims. I mean I'd certainly never pay a pile of money to hyper-realistically fly the same appliance I (less realistically?) mostly watch fly itself at work, but exploring the world in a Cub...yes please. Virtual ATC, though? That someone, somewhere, wishes to simulate standing in a windowless room with a 1960s CRT and a hip-mounted mic-clicker...

ATC is fun. When VATSIM gets busy, if there is no ATC but the Center guy in an area, he'll be doing tower\ground\clearence\tracon into every airport in his control area and it get's pretty crazy. The fun part of ATC is a bajillion things happening and you don't have time to be like "oh crap", you just keep track of it all. I'm more into Tower\Ground, but radar is pretty crazy at least in the TRACON functions of trying to get everyone to the localizer or to climb through a busy terminal area. Pretty sure when I'm flying commercially I'll still play flightsim and if I get into the FAA I'll still use my ATC sims. It's different than real life, it's fun, you can throw whatever crap you want at yourself. When ATC signs off on VATSIM, I kill all the engines wherever I am and glide down to whatever suitable airport I can find, or ditch it in some body of water otherwise.

Games are different. It's kind of like how I can have sex 5+ times in a day and still fap to porn later. Sometimes you just wanna fap, and sometimes you just want to fly a virtual 747 into 1998 Kai Tak instead of what you do in real life.
