I see Mesa is hiring dispatchers and dispatch supervisors. Anyone have any info on what it’s like working here?

There is good and there is bad. Like any place. I would aim a little higher. OO. Lots of jumpseating (4 majors) but hard to get in and out of St. George.
If you are good and show some common sense you will move up quickly at YV if you want it. PHX is a filthy crack infested Sh##hole city. If you want a decent place to live then Scottsdale or Tempe , which are just suburbs of PHX. It's all one giant hot hell hole. Open carry so be ready to "stand your ground".

Get experience and get out. Like any regional, there is good and bad. Focus on the good and the people you work with on a daily basis. Don't allow comments from negative people to get in your head.

The PHX area is a great place to be if you enjoy the outdoors and public lands. There are plenty of things to do there even if you're not an outdoors person. I grew up in the SE part of the country, so I actually enjoyed the dry heat of AZ compared to the humid environment I grew up in. The summer months are spent running from AC to AC. The rest of the year is perfect shorts and sandals weather. If you want to ski, drive 3-4 hours north. If you want beaches, drive 4 hours south. Living there for 5 years and never felt unsafe or the need to carry a firearm. My kid rode her bike to school every day for those 5 years.

Phoenix, like every major city has bad areas. The Crystal Palace is right off Van Buren St which is known as kind of a sketchy area closer to 24th St than 44th where HQ is. Yes,AZ has open carry but it’s not like there are OK Corral type shootouts every day. The airport light rail station is about a block away as well if you are a commuting so that would help as well. If you like Mexican food you’ll love PHX. As for Mesa, like others have said,it’s a regional, get in and get your 121 time and move on to a major or LCC.
