Mesa Air Group Inc., parent of interisland carrier go!, has filed its fourth lawsuit involving an isle airline or industry employee since entering the Hawaii market in June 2006.
Phoenix-based Mesa filed a lawsuit in U.S. District Court in Arizona on Monday against Mokulele Airlines, claiming the Kona-based airline has failed to pay nearly $400,000 in fuel expenses.
The two airlines entered into a code-share agreement in February 2007 to serve smaller airports including Kapalua, Maui; Lanai and Molokai under the go!Express name using three nine-seat Cessna 208B Grand Caravans owned by Mokulele.
Mokulele announced last week that it is starting service with Indianapolis-based Republic Airways on Nov. 19 with one-way fares starting at $61. Interisland rivals go! and Hawaiian Airlines have since cut their lowest fare to $61 from $64.
Go! has lost $42.1 million since beginning service in June 2006, partly attributable to a $5.6 million increase in legal and consulting fees due to lawsuits involving Hawaiian and Aloha airlines. Mokulele is privately held.
