Mesa a major??

They are a major. Remember a major is a status awarded to airline based upon their level of revenue not whether their a subcontractor or what kinda equipment they fly!

Um NO!

they're = they are :nana2: :nana2: Grammer police aren't always right Max.....don't worry. ;)

Yea I know...They're is simple a contraction (short cut) for spelling out the entire word "they are". Same could be said for:

What're,you're,can't etc!

But thanks for coming to the rescue!

I think the point is that Max used "their" twice in that particular post. Once correctly, once not.

:pirate:

No Max, you can't say "What're", and

not whether their a subcontractor

is incorrect as well. It should have been not whether they're a subcontractor.

Remember kids, their is for posession.

Edited to say you can say "What're", but it is improper, even though it is pronounced all the time.

Ah yes, I missed the second usage of "their" in Max's post. It's true, it was used incorrectly this instance.

1st usage = ok
2nd usage = not ok

My point, however, was that THEIR most certainly doesn't equal THEY'RE as someone tried to make us believe.

Oh wtf ever. . . their was not the proper usage. Either they are, or they're would of been correct. :nana2:

So cruise, feel free to edit your original attempt at correcting me.

I wasn't trying to make you believe their EQUALS they're (they are. . .) but rather it SHOULD OF BEEN they're (they are) as opposed to their. Relax.

[moderator rant]

Are some of us so narcissistic that we must spot-correct minor grammatical errors?

C'mon, people! Jeez.....

If this were a Doctoral thesis we're reviewing, that'd be one thing.

But this is a post in an internet board thread; stick to the thread subject, people. I don't want to have to be deleting posts of those that derail threads over this kind of BS.

Now, back to your regularly scheduled programming.

Ohhhhhh...and you're an Admin not a moderator! Or am I also spot correcting!?

:)

If you did that, it would say more about you as an admin than it would about us as members.

But don't let me tell you how to do your 'job'.

I gotta say that one thing that bothers me is the issues people have with simple things like they're versus their versus there or you're versus your.

I think it's sad that educated people can't get that right. Most of us here have college degrees and we can't get that right? What does that say about the state of education here?

When you think about a billion and a half Chinese and about 750 million Indians who are getting strong educations and can certainly tell the difference between there, they're, and their in their own language...

If it bothers you that much then please call the Gramar police....who cares. I have much more of a life then to sit here and proof read all my crap.

At any rate---be careful when using the phrase "All I want out of my career is to work for a major!"

You might just get what you wish! :)
