Dr. Forred-

I looked at the Melatonin and it looks like it's "Nature's Bounty" Melatonin where each pill has 3mg per.

However, I think you said the study found that a dosage of about 6mg was suggested however the directions say not to exceed 3mg in a 24 hour period.

Is a 6mg dose kosher?

Yes, the 6 mg is worth a try. The studies were done with this dose and since it is not a long-term chronic thing I think 6 mg is OK. It has helped air crews going to Europe sleep in the studies that were performed.
Let me know how it works for you:)

When I flew for the USAF it worked great for me! And you don't wake up with that "drugged" feeling like you do with standard sleeping pills.

I've used melatonin as a sleep aid occasionally over the past couple years after learning about it from a friend to travels to China on business regularly, and it does indeed work as advertised!

Those time zones gettin' to ya?

I tried melatonin and it did nothing for me.

I want to try ambien cause the TV commercials are cool. Also, I hear it works.

Rounding home plate on arrival to CVG, it was "Honest" Abe, a talking beaver and a guy in a deep sea diving outfit sitting in the corner of the cockpit.

Wife named it the "magic pill" a few years ago. Boy does that little magic pill work. Occasionally, however, it makes me have some of the most vivid and crazy dreams that I've ever had in my life.

The 'ole toss up between no sleep vs. crazy dreams.....think I can live with the crazy dreams. ;)

Probably for good reason too.

Whenever I take a non "non-drowsy" cold medication, I'm literally a zombie for 48 hours so I don't take them at all. Some of it will make me hallucinate as well so I steer clear of most cold medications, including the non-drowsy types.

5 to 7 days without treatment... About a week without... :)
