Medevac King Air crash arriving at E91 to pick up a patient from the Navajo IHS clinic there. Accident sequence unclear at this time, but four fatal of two pilots, flight nurse and flight medic. King Air from CSI Air Medical out of ABQ. CSI runs a fleet of King Airs consisting of a few 90 series, a 200, a 300, and a 350. It appears this was the KA300 N534AW

Way back in the day I used to fly cargo into E91, along with a few other Rez airports. It had no services back then, and likely not much more today.

Flew for one of their competitors based out of GUP and frequently picked up at E91. Still waiting on the names to be released....don't know any of their current pilots, but several of the med crew I knew ended up at CSI...

RIP, med dawgs. Quiet pagers and uninterrupted sleep to you.

A bit unusual in that this was a 2 pilot crew, the vast majority of our fixed wing medevac accidents the last 10 years or so have been single pilot.

As I understood CSI, they flew both charter and Medevac with an all King Air fleet, and one of their safety selling points seemed to be a two-pilot op even in aircraft that were easily single pilot. That said, makes one wonder even more what may have gone wrong for the aircraft to end up as it did. I have yet to see and information on it, or hear of possible witnesses. Haven’t heard if, for example, an ambo was at the airport awaiting their arrival, or if one had not shown up just yet, but the latter seems to be possible in this case. Little in the way of details, but somewhat understandable given how little goes on at that field and how fairly sparse the area is.

The Rez airports are little more than barely maintained asphalt strips, normally with no one regularly present. Even larger ones such as RQE that actually have instrument approaches, isn’t much more than that. There is no crash rescue at the airports, nor is there a formal requirement for it. Just a tribal FD of basic trained firefighters, and a separate EMS.

Some of the pics of the wreckage have me wondering of the timeframe of the fire response and curious as to what on scene actions were undertaken.

Very sad indeed. News video states it happened about 12:30 PM. If the pictures were taken shortly after the account, weather looks clear at the time.

I trained adjacent to one of their pilots, but luckily he wasn't on the airplane.
