Marines Pushing Navy to Retire C-2 Greyhound

Yeah, but can Northrop Grumman deliver an upgraded C-2 for less than 100 million a piece? I'm a buyer at anything under 100 million. Give me a fourth rudder and I'm in for $150 million.

No idea what it would cost, never heard or read a number. The COD as it sits now are $40 million a piece.

I was joking about the cost of the V-22.

Due to low production numbers, the cost of an upgraded C-2 might approach the current marginal cost of a V-22 ($76.2 million per unit, FY2013). Even if the cost of an upgraded C-2 exceeded that of an Osprey, I think it would still be a much cheaper option over the life of the airframe.

I think we can look forward to some very expensive SLEP programs for the Osprey.

(Remembered a prank in which a JO was asked to inform a C-2 crew that they might have a problem with one of their rudders)
