Man's body found in landing-gear wheel well of plane at Dulles airport

A maintenance guy was found in STL dead in the electronics bay of a 707 once, after having been electrocuted while working on the jet in LAS for the airline. MX there didn't notice his absense at LAS, and he was found after a revenue flight to STL the next day when the jet was being turned.

Ahh so that's why the SA A340 was sitting over there today. I thought it was a medical emergency, but it definitely caused a lot of attention on Ground and Ramp.

FO get in trouble for a terrible walkaround?

In the airline one I posted, another MX guy even checked the electronics bay and didnt see anyone, so he secured it, with the other MX guy body inside. Then it went on its flight to STL....

What's up with the tires? Maybe they were changing them when the body was discovered?

Eh....that happened two years in row in Long Beach on Long Island. One guy landed in a hospital parking lot and shattered like a vase. The other landed in a seafood store parking lot across the channel from the hospital. Planes lower the landing gear on final for JFK. They fly directly over Long Beach/ Island Park.

I know when I was a CFI my trick for testing a students preflight was to mess with things and see if they'd catch it. It was pretty hard hiding a dead guy in the cowling of a 172 though.
Yeah, I still can't believe no one noticed Gary Coleman was dug up.

The location of the flight's origin was not immediately known.
I like how CNN couldn't be bothered to ask where the plane came from and instead try to play it off like a mystery. Not like South African has a huge route network from IAD...damn media.
