A MAN WHO HAD JUST ARRIVED IN THE U.S. WAS CHARGED
WEDNESDAY WITH STEALING THE BELONGINGS OF AN AA CO-PILOT,
INCLUDING HIS HAT AND A KITBAG CONTAINING OPERATIONAL
MANUALS, WHILE EXITING AN AIRPLANE AT MSP. THE CO-PILOT
HAD PUT HIS BAGS ON THE BOTTOM OF A JETBRIDGE AND DUCKED
BACK INTO THE COCKPIT TO COMPLETE THE SHUTDOWN OF THE
AIRCRAFT, POLICE SAID. WHEN HE EMERGED A FEW MOMENTS
LATER, HIS BELONGINGS WERE GONE. THE CO-PILOT AND OTHER
OFFICERS RAN INTO THE TERMINAL, WHERE THEY SAW A MAN
WEARING THE HAT AND PULLING HIS BAGS. THEY RECOVERED THE
BELONGINGS AND CALLED SECURITY. THE 27-YEAR-OLD MAN IS
BEING HELD IN LIEU OF $30,000 BAIL.

Did he really think he was going to get away with stealing a pilot's bags?

Not to mention what an idiot for wearing the hat!

Now I wonder if the co-pilot will get in trouble for leaving his bags w/ MD-80 manuals on the jetbridge.

Actually, most of us did that prior the the company cracking down a few months ago. When you're changing gates and the aircraft hasn't arrived yet, often (well, once upon a time) we'd leave the bags in the jetway and go off to forage for food.

Or I might leave my bags in the jetway when people are deplaning so I can walk around the jet to expedite departure. But you really can't realistically drag your bags down to the ramp to do a walkaround.

can you say "deported"??? hahaha

what a fool.. what WAS he thinking? so where's homeland security on this one (ie: only $30,000 bail and no gitmo for the guy?

)? wouldn't most considered this a "act of tourism"? haha

From what I hear this is not all that uncommon. I know when I had a tour of UAL ops at LAX, one of the guys hat was stolen - we joked that it was probably already on Ebay!

Damn. Doesn't that double-breasted blazer just look schmooove?

He was just trying to look as good as the pilots in thier uniforms. He knows women like men in uniforms! Just not stolen ones!

Ah! Women like men that wear uniforms, but don't smell like fuel, de-icing fluid and passenger cabin!

At least, uhh, my better half doesn't.
