Making the jump to airlines

Im a 6000tt with 2000pic jet pilot looking to make the jump to the 121 world. Does anyone have sugestions on what are the quality airlines to go to. I'm no against going overseas for the right company. I was looking at etihad and ana. Other options?

Where do you live/want to live?
 
Don't commute(if you can avoid it). Without knowing your background, I would guess that you would be competitive or atleast in the conversation for all the major and legacies carriers.
 
I would apply at the LCCs and legacies first, and see where that lands you in a few months. Go to job fairs and try and make a point to talk to some of the pilots from those outfits that you meet in the airport. See what shakes out. If your goal is a legacy, they may want to see some current 121 time on your resume so going to a regional for a year or two might become part of that process. If you decide to go that route, I would either go somewhere with a relatively quick upgrade, or somewhere with livable first year pay. Good luck in your decision. I know it isn't an easy one.
 
A problem I have is salery. I'm making close to six figures now and have a family. I live close to most U.S. carrier bases. (Northeast). Phl, Bwi,iAd,dca, jfk ewr are all less than 2.5 hours.
 
Year two pay at all the legacies is 6 figures...and at a lot of the other majors you could probably get close to 6 figures on year two if you really worked hard.
 
Endeavor is voting on a TA that would put first year FO salary around $50,000. Living in the Northeast either of the NYC bases might be an option if none of the LLCs or legacies bite.

$50k! With the reported problems Republic is having with their new "pricey" contract is that even realistic?

One of the benefits of being wholly owned by Delta. They are pushing a lot of money into Endeavor to make us a successful airline. If the MEC votes yes on the TA, first year pay will be $30 an hour, the retention bonus goes up to $23,000 a year, and there's a completion of training bonus of $3000 which the company could up to $10,000 at their discretion. Plus, reserve time for new hires is dropping dramatically and if this brings in the numbers Endeavor wants, upgrade time will drop as well. Pretty much a complete 180 degree turn from where this place was 12 months ago.

Yep, and to add lots of first officers with CJOs are bypassing upgrade. The upgrade time is dropping rapidly with each vacancy. The plan next year is to hire 600+ and add around 20 200's to the fleet. Fast movement with industry leading pay, Endeavor is a great place to be a new hire right now.

A year ago I would have told you the exact opposite.

When is the MEC vote?
 
Seems like from the World Wide Web news that agreement was reached on the TA. Congrats to the Endeavor Pilot group
