Makes for a tough approach

What, you just surf the web to find crap weather around the country or something?

I kid... I do the same thing to show students different METARs and TAFs.

Weather Channel mentioned 87mph winds in Eagle, CO so I just looked up the METAR is all.

This is here right now.

Thats just insane. Gotta love Colorado.

You are full fledged CFI now so suck it up shoot the approach......kidding

A light 10 kt breeze to getting a 76 kt wind and knocked over by....must be fun

then when looking at each other you go.....you know that hotel in Denver is pretty nice and there is some good resturants close by.

Should make for an easy approach...I'm guessing OVC001 is below mins. No Go :)

Yes, I know you can shoot the approach....

visibility is controlling unless a ceiling is specifically required. If you have your 1/2 mile (or whatever the min is) you can go try to catch the approach lights through the last 100ft of cloud. Or if you have cat II then that'll get you down to 100AGL anyway.

not quite as windy, but i landed in this today:

an aircraft 2 ahead of us and the one behind us both went around. Was crazy bumpy in the last 300 ft but kept the airspeed in check and put it in the touchdown zone so i call it a good day.

Some where back in the mists of time I landed a Seminole in a 25kt or so direct crosswind. Weren't too bad. Thing's got a lotta rudder, when you get right down to it. I think I posted about it, or someone else did, or something.
