This crossed my mind and has been bugging me, Major airlines, American, Continental, US Air. Most of these majors have a regional airline affiliate, for ex., AA, uses American Eagle. Continental has Coex, and Continental connection. Since i dont know the exact term for the next airline, i'll use the term,"Feeder" until clarified.
Some regionals, are owned(?) by "Feeder Airlines", such as Continental Connection, owned by Gulfstream International Airlines, US.Air's regional counterpart is owned by Mesa airlines i believe, not to sure about that one. My question is, are "Feeder" airlines a good place to work? I ask because, why do they insist on flying another carriers' coulours? Dont they want to establish reputation as an individual? Isn't it better to fly for a regional who is established for example American Eagle, they are the only regional at AA, and they arent owned by a "Feeder" airline, at least that i'm aware of. I'm not bashing here, just honestly curious regarding these carriers, thanks guys.

Well in case of Gulfstream Intl, they want you to fly for them because their PFT. Is gulfstream an all PFT airline?

I know for a fact they are not just PFT, i almost considered doing the program before i knew the effect it has on somone in need of that position as a paid crewmember, but, i spoke with the chief pilot, he showed me a roster of Captains, Perminant F/O's, and Probationay F/O's, the probationary are program guys, the permanent F/O's are actually paid regualr first officers. Believe me, the list for permanent is very short.

But how easy is it to get a job as an FO with them when they are primarily taking people in for PFT?

Probably tough. Put yourself in a manager's shoes. Would you rather have to pay someone for a job or have someone pay YOU to work there?

Exactly. The way I see it is that as long as they have people paying to work, they don't need anyone in which they will have to pay to work.
