Magnesyn Compass?

I'm gonna fly an airplane that has one of this installed, any idea how you operate it? just for pure curiosity....

Well, IIRC it's pretty hands off. It should indicate heading autonomously via a flux gate or magnetometer. One of those pointers is driven off of VOR and the other off ADF-I believe the skinny one is ADF and the other is VOR.

The paint in that thing is more than likely radio-active. Neat useless facts!
