Lookin for Ramp Agent or Similar Job in PIT

Well, I decided I would like to find myself a part time job. I would like to try and find a ramp agent or similar job, part time and something that will get me around the airlines more. Of course, I would like to find one in Pittsburgh. I found one for PSA Airlines there, but it requires one thing I don't have and don't plan on getting anytime soon: a driver's license. Any suggestions or ideas? Thanks.

You absoutely need a Drivers licence to be a ramp rat for an airline. You MAY be able to find a FBO that will hire you, but you would have to be sitting in a desk. The thing is there is so much driving done at airports that it would be tough to find a non-driving position. The other thing is "how reliable can someone be without a licence?" in terms of getting to work unless you live "across the street".

Mommy will give me a ride just won't cut it for a lot of people.

Plus you have to be 18 for nearly every ramp position out there.

Maybe cleaner or something like that? Maybe I should just get my license. I don't really want to though especially on Pittsburgh area roads.

I am pretty sure all airline will require you to have a valid drivers license. Eventually you will have to drive some of the equipment. An FBO will probably require it also due to insurance reason.

You need a driver's license to work for an airline or FBO because of identification purposes. Most airports require an Airport ID and to get that you will need a DL, even if you sit behind a desk. 99.9999% of FBO's will not hire you if mommy has to bring you to work. An airline definetely won't!

If it's simply for ID purposes, that's easy to fix. Every state issues official Identification Cards.

I have a dependant photo I.D. card issued by the USAF that I've used for many things including the Homeland Security requirements for receiving flight instruction. That part is not a problem.
By the way, maybe Mommy won't be driving me ;) There is such a thing as public transportation in Pittsburgh and not everyone who lives near a major city drives ;)

i think i saw on the ual website part time rampers at pit
EXCELLENT!!!!! THANKS!!!! I think I might apply! I meet all the requirements! Not a ramp agent, but customer service but that's more than fine with me. Looks like it pays more than PSA offered too.

My honest opinion having done ramp and CSA, get the drivers license and take the ramper job. Bags don't complain when you tell them you need another $30 b/c the bag weighs 20 lbs over the limit. :)

lol im glad i cud b help, but working cs aint a piece of cake tho...

WTF????????????? Je ne comprende pas!!!!

On the other hand, get the licence, and a ramp job. If you want to be around airplanes this is the way to go. I almost would always rather be on the ramp, even in the nastiest of weather. In BGR we have to be trained in both (smaller outstation). The counter jobs deal much more with people, you can do that at the local burger joint. You would literally go days without touching an airplane.

Steve you got it right. There was no way I could have ever been a gate agent or worked the ticket counter. But lucky for you know you get to hear about how bad you landing was from some old lady that flies once every 5 yrs.
