I had a Colgan 1900 guy in the jumpseat yesterday (HYN based I think) and he was really suprised when I clicked the a/p off at about 6000 on the way into Charlotte. He said that if he had an autopilot he would damn well use the thing all the way down.

its because he hand flies it all the time. so he would love to abuse the autopilot if he got it. And just like us, the autopilot flies it 90% of the time, so when get a chance to hand fly it, we do it. Do you know how boring it would be if just had the plane land itself all the time?

lol - We had a beech captain transition in the jumpseat yesterday and the first thing he said when he walked up to the cockpit was "So this is what mainline is like..." - I got a good laugh out of that.

Hahaha who was it, I flew with all the captains in the transition class.
