LogTen Pro X

Coradine announced their newest LogTen Pro version today. Some better looking graphics and easier 117 tracking are the biggest changes. Sadly, they will start charging a subscription fee of $69.99 a year rather than the one time fee. Get it before the end of the month and the first year fee is 50% off.

I did. I researched it and they recommend not updating to the iCloud Drive. Well I clicked that button going to iOS 8 and can't go back.

Restore your phone to factory and set it up not using drive. Then if you restore I would guess you would be set. You can also still use wifi sync.

It was already bad enough I was paying to upgrade every year and a half or so for a data entry program. I will say it is the best e-logbook I have used but I'll settle for one of the less pretty ones at that price point.

I know the guy has got to pay his bills and employees but I think he just bit the hand that feeds.

Download your data in CSV format before they lock you in!

I'm actually going to backtrack on my prior statement. The subscription is for all devices, and he promises that he absolutely will never lock your data away—the only thing you won't be able to do is add new flights without a subscription. I don't think it's a good idea at all, and I HATE the model... but I may do it anyway, and if I see meaningful updates, I may even recommend them again in the future.

I think the price is unnecessarily steep for logbook software, but the dude is probably inspired by ForeFlight.

Anyway, I'll at least be a guinea pig because I can afford it... for now.

We'll see.

I'm really on the fence on this one. On one paw, the annual subscription was $35, not $65. On the other, I HATE the subscription model—and it only makes sense when a service is being provided on an ongoing basis. Software updates do not count as a 'service'.

On the other other paw, I use LogTen pro extensively and the damn thing has worked extremely well for me.

On the other other other paw, if they're going to force me into subscription model I demand FLAWLESS SOFTWARE. No bugs, no weirdness, no crashes.

I dunno. I'm trying it now. It still doesn't work with Yosemite cloud sync, which is a bit of a shocker. It's also acting a little sluggish, unlike far more complex apps. Not a good start so far.

I'm already having problems trying to get my LogTen Pro 6.0 database into LogTen Pro X. I selected the wrong file when I turned on LogTen Pro X and now I can't go back and select the proper database file.

We'll see what these guys say, but I can't find an option to fix this in the program, and I have no idea why they'd want me to pay MORE for software that I can't get to work quickly and easily.

Uh... Seriously? Screw them! Maybe if they offered a flawless product with no bugs in it I would be interested. But I frequently find myself frustrated with my current version over some of the nagging glitches it has. In fact, I got so frustrated by it a few nights ago that I just busted out my calculator and pen/paper to finish up my airline apps. So they can keep their pos program. I managed to keep track of my flight hours before them and I'm sure I'll be fine now.
