Redbird Simulator is level 3 simulator. Am I right?

Depends on which model. They have several which meet different requirements.

Ignorance is always a problem. That's why it is our responsibility to "trust but verify." The school should have its LOA either on file or posted near the device.

They are probably correct in the sense that it can be done in any BATD as long as it has the LOA that permits that. I've seen some ridiculously old p.o.s. sims that were approved by the FAA, the standard for BATD is pretty low anyways. I'm not sure I understand what you're asking, it's either approved or not, it's that simple. No it doesn't have to be a Level C sim, yes it can be a BATD or AATD, I've seen both approved.

I guess not, but http://www.southwestflightcenter.com/simulator-center-1.html say they are 'FAA Approved' - I'll ask them if there is an LOA.
