Logging Level D Simulator

Question to the airline guys here...Level D Sim time, how would it be logged?? I am currently in the Legacy sim and have no idea on how to log it.

I was told it can be logged for the following. Please correct me if I am wrong. This is for the EMB-145 aircraft.

Total Duration of Flight
Airplane Multi-Engine Land
Turbine
Flight Simulator
Second in Command

Thanks

Yep, I'd say you could log it all those ways. I'd probably also log it as dual recieved and have the instructor sign.

Personally, I didn't bother logging my sim time at all. Most people didn't.

I figure I will look back in my log book when I am old an have fond memories about emergency descents and V1 cuts. Just for fun but may as well make it count..

Yeah, I don't think it could hurt anything, especially if you can get the instructor to sign.

Looking back, I kinda wish I had the record of training in my logbook (only logged one training flight in the actual a/c), but to be honest I didn't want to ask my Instructor to do it. I didn't need to give him another excuse to swear at me

Total Duration of Flight - no! Flight time is in aircraft only.
Airplane Multi-Engine Land - yes
Turbine - yes for insurance purposes
Flight Simulator - yes
Second in Command - probably not this is another one for flight time only

I had almost 25 hours of B1900D level D time in my logbook, logged like JT said. It culminated in a Part 61 signoff for SIC in the aircraft.

What I found was that my total time didn't add up by adding up my SEL and MEL colomn in my logbook. Which I suppose isn't a "big-deal" but was for a few companies where you'd apply online and you responses would be scored for accuracy. So i decided to take it out.

I left it in as Simulator only. I found that most airlines won't except this sort of thing couting toward your total time/multi time (re: ExpressJet) so I took it out. And honestly, I never looked back. Log it how you wish, but it might come back to bite you later. I found that the inital "coolness" of having it in your logbook would be overshadowed by interviewers asking questions about the aircraft later on in life - and I've heard horror stories about that situation.

[/ QUOTE ]John, are you sure about that MEL column? I thought that the designation was for a multi-engine 'airplane' - a category and class of 'aircraft' which a sim is not.

You may have a point there.

I'm only logging for insurance now, so I call it Multi-engine. I don't think any interviewer would ding you for calling it ME.

Anyone have personal experience with that?

I would only log it as 'sim' time. You can also log the landings.

Since this is not time spent in an aircraft, I would not log the time in any of the other columns. I don't think most employers would count the time as multi-engine or turbine time.
