List of books to get back in the game...

Pépé le Pilot

I have taken the decision to get back in the game. I stopped flying 8 years ago, left with a CFI, Comm-Inst ASEL. I'm going for ME-MEI.
I was ordering books on Amazon (I'm currently in France) and was wondering what to add to that :
- Aviation Weather
- FAR/AIM 2010
- Pilot's handbook of aeronautical knowledge AC8083
- Instrument Procedure handbook
- Instrument flying handbook
- Commercial Test Prep Study
- CFI/MEI prep package from Jepp

:dunno:

Sounds like you've got a good list. Just as a heads-up, all of the FAA manuals are available for free on their website. There is a lot to be said for having the paper versions to carry around, highlight, etc. I'd add to your list Everything Explained for the Professional Pilot. Check it out.

Anyone else find that book very disorganized and annoying? It's got a lot of great information if you can find it. Worth the buy though

Yep. This.

It's handy provided you know where things are. It is a great source of gouge and random trivia to *accompany* all your other books. It's questionably useful as a study aid.

I really like Rod Machado's Instrument Pilot Survival Manual.

That's a well organized, logically presented book that's easy to read and long on useful information. The only thing I don't like about it is the author's excessive use of hackneyed jokes and bad puns.

Airplane flying handbook for all your maneuvers and such. Jeppesen also has a good airplane systems book. The Jeppesen commercial/instrument book is also a great reference from time to time.

The problem with Machado isn't necessarily his hackneyed jokes and bad puns - it's his repeated use of the same hackneyed jokes and bad puns.

And +1 on the AOPA stuff!
