Lightspeed Zulu 2 or Bose X?

Well my Telex ANR's finally gave out after only 4 years. I'm looking for a major upgrade to eiather the Zulu 2's or the Bose X.

Witch one should I get? Pros and cons of both are appriciated to those who have them.

My personal set is Pilot Avionics PA1779 and I love them for the price and when the battery runs out there is still some passive noise reduction.

When I am working the aircraft has Bose X's in it and I absolutely hate them. The noise reduction is very good but the clamping force on those I feel is way worse than the David Clarks. The only way I would buy them is if they were cheaper and I had flights that were less than an hour.

I've played around with the Zulu 2 and I love the feel of them and clarity but I haven't had them on for longer than 30 minutes so I can't give a full review of those.

I for sure need something comfertable. My current Telex are big and bulky. I fly C-421's and I fly them for long periods of time on some trips. Some days are in the 7.0 to 7.8 flight hour days when we do our big ambulance runs up north to MI, WI, OH, CA to name a few.

FWIW, I did some research on the popular ANRs for our company and we ended up getting the Sierras. Pretty much the same as the Zulus, just a little heavier and cost less. What I did find with most of the companies was the Lightspeed was quick to respond, willing to cut us a deal and has great customer service. Ive been using a 15XLC for 6 years now and they are great. However, I think I'll upgrade for the bluetooth. Anywho, I found that Bose didn't have much of an aviation department dedicated to headset support. Others have had success, which is great, but I found in the long term they wouldn't support us like Lightspeed. To me, Bose is a speaker company that makes headsets. Lightspeed is a headset company that makes.... headsets.

Original, Out of the box brand new. lol. The Zulu 2's look great but I've never used them. I have used the bose though and I liked them. Them having Bluetooth now is really what I like. Do they automatically turn the music down on radio calls like the Zulus?

Why are you thinking about getting the Bose X? Get the newest pair, A20's. They are much better in the comfort department and have bluetooth.

If between the Zulu 2s and the original X's the Zulu 2 will win because IMHO the Zulu 1 is superior to the X. I have never worn a Bose A20 though.

Well I'm going with the Zulu 2's. The big thing is they are a headset company and all I've heard are great things about them. Plus the fact that they are giving 300 bucks off if you send in your old ANR.

Bose sucks ass. The Zulu is fantastic. I have owned both. With the A20 you cannot bluetooth music while you fly that is lame. The X is uncomfortable after about 3 weeks when the ear cups break in. The Zulu has performed fantastically in everything I have flown. The Zulu 2 is a welcome improvement and I plan on purchasing a set soon.

I absolutely love my A20's. In the seneca I actually have to remove an earcup every once in a while to see if the engines are still running....:p

This is more of a personal preference than which one is better. I love my bose x, some people don't though. I know a guy who wore both the x and the zulu and went back to his old dc. It's all preference, I wouldn't ever talk someone into buying one headset over another of they haven't flown with them on.

Bingo!

Which is why I would suggest to the OP to call up those companies to have them send you a demo. That's a good place to start.

Well I just did a Demo at work. I found out our parts department had both. Looks like i'm going after the A20. I flew for 2 hours with it on yesterday and it was great. So here I go. Changed my mind and I hope I don't change it back. haha.

Last time I looked that offer was only for the original Zulu's. Did it change?
