Life is tough this month!

This month I held a nice line of 15 days off with every weekend off. I ended up dropping another three days and had a total of 18 days off. Then today the checkairmen I'm flying with this month who lives across the street from me called me to tell me I'm being displaced for the rest of the month. So I will have worked a total of 5 days for the month!!!!! However there is a chance that crew scheduling can give me a trip next week to replace my previous one, but it has to start and end within the same time and date of the original.

Displacement happens when a checkairmen has to fly with a new FO for IOE or a captain IOE. I'm not sure which he is doing. This is what my schedule looks like for this month.

If you get displaced, do you still get paid? just curious....

Yup! Not only do you get paid, your guaranteed the pay you would have had for your regular line. Your not getting paid for reserve pay or anything. So if you've got a line that has 95 or 100 hours of credit, its gonna be a nice month.

At my place, you get bumped and they can't put any trip on there, even if it is within the "footprint" of the original (there are times they can do that, such as it gets dropped for some legality issue, but not for training). So, not only is the person "off", but if they want, they can pick a trip up over any of these new days-off and get paid for that trip at 150%, meaning they can potentially get paid 250% for that time, the original trip PLUS the extra one at time and a half. Of course, they can choose to stay at home too, depends on the "opportunity cost", which is highly subjective.

Yup- We also can pick up a trip for 150% but at $19.02/hr I think the cost to benefit ratio would favor the company.

...says the guy whose login name is "Alaskaairlines". Make up your mind already, bro!

Well, its got to be somebody out of ANC. Hopefully I can make a career at FDX, UPS or Alaska. I'd be very happy at any of the three. I guess time will tell.........

Head to Mexico! Puerto Vallarta is awesome, there are some clubs on the beach and it's spring break somewhere, so the place should be busy.
