Letter to David Clark Customer Service

Recently, my David Clark H20-10S fell victim to a viscious dog attack. It was my fault for leaving the things in the headset case unzipped on the floor. I spoke with DC customer service last week and they said "send them on up", so this is the letter I'm sending with them:

Dear Customer Service:

Please help! My H20-10’s were the unfortunate victim of an unprovoked attack from our 15 lb. Schipperke (dog), “Tisha.”

Lord only knows what possessed her to chew the chord into three pieces, but I can assure you that your chords do hold up very well in a dogs digestive track as we found out a couple of days later.

Tisha apparently also has an affinity for leather as evidenced by what is left of the head piece.

I realize these items are most certainly not under warranty, but if you could please replace and/or repair them, I’d greatly appreciate it. I promise to keep Tisha away from them. She’s not real fond of flying anyway.

Thanks in advance!

Sincerely,

Stan ******

Now, if they'd only turn them into ANR's, life would be swell.

And "track" should really be "tract", but that's all part of R2F's humble, scheming charm that will get him all that stuff fixed for free!

A guy at the airport this weekend was flying the new Duce (Deuce, sp?) anyways its an open cockpit. Lifted his head above the windshield and the wind took his favorite Carolina Panthers hat and DCs!!! Lost them at about 1,000ft! He was so pissed he came down and got another hat and a different set and went back up!

UPDATE:

Got my headset back from DC, repaired BETTER than new! They repaired the cable, then replaced the headband padding with a little extra padding and it fits better than it did when I sent it out.

Gotta love DC Customer Service!!!

Oh - and the charge for the repairs: $0.00.

That's what I'm talkin' about!!!

ditto

I only wish that I could afford one of their ANR headsets. Their customer service has made an even bigger fan out of me.

If you get a fourth job delivering pizzas on Friday nights, you can spring for those D-C ANR's in no time.

Really though, spending a couple hundred extra for the ANR Clark's is money well spent in the long run (IMHO).

I thought the same thing, finally put the money together to get the 10-13X, and it was one of the best purchases I've made. I love that headset.

DC's Customer Service is outstanding. I sent my H10-13X's off to get a problem with the volume fixed. I took off the headpad, ear seals, and cord tie wrap. They sent it back fixed and with all new headpad, ear seals, tie wrap, and mic muff free of charge. And they did it in less than 2 weeks.

How do y'all send these things in?

Just box them up and send it?

Or call/email first?

I have an old 10-30 set that I use for passengers, and someone complained the other day there was a scratchy sorta sound. I tried my headset in the jacks, and sounded fine, and heard it only on the DC set. Still there after I wiggled wires around a bit, but passenger said it went away a little later.

I'd like to make this a perfect backup set, as their are times, when I have enough passengers, that I run out of my other headsets for backups.

Josh, I called first to see if they'd even take it. I always keep the boxes for small, expensive, electrical items, so I just put it back in its original box, taped it up nice and tight with the above letter, and off it went.

Of coures, if you're not anal retentive like me, any ol' box will do.

Oh, and they also replaced the gel seals, cord tie thing, and mic cover.

DC ANR = ENC

[/ QUOTE ]
Yep... and I find myself leaning towards saving the $$$ to be able to afford DC ENC's.

Are DC's TSO'd?

Had that discussion with my wife last night. She actually convinced me to save the $$ and buy the more expensive DCs. Go figure.

Now I know you're all going to flame me for not speaking glowing words about the glorious DC, but seriously. They do not have the best ANR headsets. If you're looking for ANR, consider Telex, and Lightspeed (and Bose if you want to blow that kind of cash).

Don't even think about trying to use the customer service argument. It is old, tired, and simply not true anymore. Lightspeed's customer service is as good, if not better, than DCs. They fix headsets over the weekend for free, and I've never had it take more than 4 days from when I ship to them (granted it's only been twice for me, but others have had the same experience).

Another thread here has a guide from Avshop on ANR headsets. Guess what? DCs don't come out on top!
