The median expected salary for a typical Flight Instructor in Kansas -- Wichita, is $75,078. This basic market pricing report was prepared using our Certified Compensation Professionals' analysis of survey data collected from thousands of HR departments at employers of all sizes, industries and geographies.

This should have gone in the humor forum, but couldn't resist a knife in the back of all instructors.

????

Well, I'd be doing a helluva lot better at 15k than 10k. I can't go around and force people to take flying lessons from me at gunpoint, nor can I charge them $75/hr and expect to have any business unless all the CFI's in the country suddenly formed an impenetrably solid labor union and agreed upon that rate. That is the financial reality.

FlightSafety has 3 learning centers in Wichita for Cessna, Lear, and Raytheon. The Sim instructors start at around $60k in the jets. They have to pay this, because most of the sim instructors could leave and get corporate jobs for the same money.

For those interested, FSI has an intern program where you can work at these centers after interviewing for a CFI position. It pays $14 per hour after your initial training and if you go to a busy center you can work 40 hours a week or more. It is a decent wage and lots of opportunities for networking.

For those who aren't aware. This has nothing to do with Wichita. Go to the salary wizard and put in almost any place (even where =you= are teaching) and you'll find the numbers are similar.

The silliness of this web site comes up in online forums from time to time
