There's a forum topic in collegiate aviation that went sour... Doug probably didn't do anything about it because it was a valid forum for discussion...
now - let me point out that many people use abbreviations or slang (myself included) when posting on this website or working on the computer - there is absolutely nothing wrong with that. When it comes to sending out resumes or professional documents, THAT'S when it makes a difference.
Flaming is one thing...but - when it comes to cussing (ie: aviationfreak - you were almost banned for that), there is no excuse. To say you want more professionalism with "spelling" is one thing - to show it by using cuss words is totally inappropriate and UNPROFESSIONAL. and i am very disappointed...
If you want professional - you (as an individual) have to BE and SHOW professional.
Tanveer was banned earlier this evening. Since he was not the start of the problem(s), I have unbanned him... he explained that he understood his spelling was bad and why he used abbreviations, that should have been the end of that discussion (to each their own)... I understood everything he said because as i said earlier, i do the same thing...it's just another type of shorthand. I'd recommend that everyone use longhand typing but if they don't - it really shouldn't be of THAT much concern as to go and flame someone as bad as it got....
if Tanveer or anyone else continues to abuse the board... there will be a serious talking to and if that doesn't fix it...
there were many users that contributed to the continuation of that particular discussion turning sour . I (we) do not want to see that happen again.
The purpose of the board is to help others with whatever questions or problems (spelling included) they have... keep that in mind for the future.
let me point out - we are not a.net, cussing only bring the whole discussion down... if you want to get your point across - don't do it with nasty words cuz it never helps the discussion... use your verbal insite to get your point across without the nastiness...
I appreciate those who did attempt to answer tanveer's question. If you'd like to continue that discussion on a modest level, the topic is still open.. unless we see more inappropriateness "go down"
