Legal Counsel?

AOPA claims I need legal counsel for $26/year even if I fly infrequently. Should I listen? Has anyone on JC signed up for this service?

In my opinion, this is kinda like life insurance. It's a good idea to have it if you can afford it, but it's normally only good if something Bad happens. That or you might be buying a plane sometime soon and want a lawyer to go over all the paperwork.

Like I tell my students... 95% of being a pilot has to do with knowing how to stay out of trouble. The other 5% is getting out of trouble when you're in it. I bought the legal coverage, never used it, hope I never have to.

For $26/year it was pretty much a given for me.

At best, in the event you need it, it could be a life/career-saver. At worst, it will reduce at least a portion of your legal fees.
