Largest ATP Location

Which ATP location is the largest with the most people and aircraft?
Which location has the newer Seminoles?
thanks

i'd say jax is the busiest location with the most aircraft. that's where the maintanence gets done. the dallas (arlington) location always has the new seminoles. jax has a few too. if you train at a florida location you'll probably only fly the new ones on some of your cross countries. they don't regularly keep them down here. someone told me it was because of the property tax laws or something to that effect.

Um, last i checked Sacramento was west of Mississippi. But generally RIV and SAC mostly has the older seminoles.

Jax is by far the busiest. The instructors there prolly average 100 hours a month. Its where the main office is, as well as the main maintenance hub.

Property tax issues in CA too?

I don't think it has anything to do with taxes. We have two bases in Virginia-the Washington base has only new Seminoles, while Richmond (me) has only old ones. I think I heard that it was related to the distance to a maintenance facility, which is reasonable since Washington, Dallas, and Phoenix are far from the ATL, JAX, and RIV MX bases.

As far as which locations have the new Seminoles........you are looking at Washington, Dallas, and Phoenix. The other locations do see some new ones on occasion, but they are not there for very long.

Phoenix huh? I think I will just take a few days and visit a couple locations soon to check them all out. I really like the geography of Sacramento and I'm not a big fan of the arizona heat but a new plane may be worth it?

All depends on the time of year. I dunno if getting into an airplane that's been sitting in 112 degree heat and has a cabin temp of about 150 is all that great of an idea. Wintertime, yeah, PHX is ideal.

Anybody know anything about the Tacoma Narrows office? Is that a CPP location? Soonermurph?

yeah, I am looking at starting in either November or more likely February. It should be just right down there in PHX in Feb.

Ive flown here in Colorado when it was 102 and that was about the limit for me. Not a fun ride and no need to do that again on purpose!

Summers here are ideal. 75 to 80 degrees, lots of sun and not much wind. There are lots of incredible sights to see while training as well (I let students peek up from their hood every once in a while).

We have five career pilots enrolled here. We don't yet have housing but I believe that will come in short order.

Speaking from experience, I don't think the older planes are bad at all. They actually fly much nicer than the new ones (my guess is because they are broken in... but who knows.) I tend to like the older ones because the yolks are smaller and fit my hand better (small hands). Alot of the pilots here in JAX love the older Seminoles. The new ones are nice, but nothin to get excited about.

Good luck with your decision. I'm sure you will enjoy your training no matter where you are or which airplane you do your training in.

Just my two cents from going through the program. I liked how the older ones flew(except for chicken killer) as compared to the new ones. The new ones are nice with the two GPS stack and the "new" look, but I found the majority of the older ones were more comfortable.

i thought the older ones fly better. maybe it's just me but they seemed more responsive. i heard that dallas has the new ones becuase the examiner(s) refuses to fly in the older ones. this coming from an instructor out there.
