Landing at LGA, Rwy 4

Levels, interesting choice. Nice video, still haven't been to LGA, looks like a really photogenic approach.

Landing on 4 has always been decieiving. There is always a burble of turbulence on short final. One time when they were launching off of 4, an American mad dog taxied across (in front) of the glide slope antenna. It scared the crap out of us on a 3 mile final because it caused the glide slope to dive down.

My favorite approach was shortly after Sandy: you'd shoot the ILS to 22, then circle to 13. 600' over Rikers was fun.
Waiting to depart later that day (rwy13) I swear we were about to witness a crash. One of my compatriots completely jacked up that same circling approach. Never before have I heard an accepted swear on the radio. Somebody was getting clearance from ground, and in the background you could hear "holy $&; Go-AROUND!!"
LGA is one of my favorites, as you're always entertained in one way or the other.

I remember doing that approach. Quite interesting to say the least.

It was one of the only approaches that doesn't have an RNAV overlay in our database (22L circle to 11 at EWR also comes to mind, but it's super rare). We can do the Expressway and river visuals on autopilot with VNAV.
The circle to 13 you actually have to fly it, which is probably why dude jacked it all up.

That's awesome about the overlay approaches for the expressway. I absolutely love hand flying that one. But at an airline that really pushes automation usage, when flying with someone who really embraces it (a/p on at 600ft, off at mins) I'd rather have them be able to use it...keeps my blood pressure down.

The only time I ever landed there was my flight from Teterboro.

TEB-LGA. Good times.

The straight in for 13 (not the circle, which had it's own challenges) was always strange. You drop right over the top of the city and it feels like a super steep approach. I never thought I'd say it, but I miss that airport some.
