LANDCARE AVIATION is looking for pilots

Northern States is the only Picto subcontractor I know that explicitly prohibits any night flight.

Hello, I see I have joined this forum a little late, but I have some questions I would like to ask, and would really appreciate any and all input and info regarding Landcare Aviation. The best way to learn about a company and a job itself, is speaking with others and their experience. I have an interview coming up in a week or so, and would like to learn a lot more about the company and job before I make my way to Rome, NY. All of the information I have been able to read is from back in 2008, so I am sure a lot has changed since then. I would truly appreciate any and all reply.

I don't think a lot has changed. Bob and Simon are a couple of great guys. I'm assuming you understand the nature of being a pictometry vendor. If you have any questions, I'd be more than happy to answer them either here or in a PM. The interview will be a short written exam, a normal interview with Bob and or Simon and then a short flight flying a few lines and will finish with an instrument approach and maybe some touch and goes. At least that was what I did last year.
 
I worked there 7 years ago, are Bob and Simon still there????

Either way things may have changed but if you have questions I can help
(The guys I flew with now are at the majors and other things)
 
CFIT, I flew there 7 years ago too, ahoot me a PM. Im not current but out of work again from a great paying science kob and loved Land Care and might say screw it and get current and call Bob. Shoot me a PM...
 
No real perks, you used to get 25$/day if you share a room with another pilot. Pretty much everyone room shared, except for the one female pilot we had at the time. If I were to do it again, I think I wouldn't room share, but I'm older than most and the young guys don't mind the close quarters. The pay is low, but you can really rack up the hours if you are willing to take every opportunity to do so. I got the most hours of any of the folks the year I flew for them, I think I pulled 550+ hours in like six months...I forgot, there is a 401K option after you are there for 2 months, it's not a lot but it is nice. Also there used to be a 1-2K bonus for staying the whole season.
 
Last year was still $25 a day to double up. I liked Landcare because there was no push to double up. I've got too much time in too many tent for that crap. End of season bonus was 2k.
 
I just flew out there early last week for my face-to-face interview and check flight, and will be working as a survey pilot this upcoming season! Looking forward to meeting some of you guys out there in October!
