Heading to Portland, ME for a few days to look at an airplane. Anything to do or see there if I have any free time?

Old Port, Lighthouse Brewery, drive a few hours to Bar Harbor, Lobstah, Clams, seafood, beer, Lobstah.

Ahh, the management was promoting it as a done deal at the trade show. I wonder why they didn't go with the one here that has been sitting all winter.
I heard Bering inked an $18 million deal to refresh their fleet with EXs. You guys gonna jump on one of the Honeywell birds or they too run out?

That and weeping wings. Some of the worst ice I have seen is around Nome.
Nome area is pretty bad, yeah, and for an extended period of time. That said, TKS isn't the end-all be-all of ice protection. Having used booted systems and TKS in the caravan, I'll say TKS is pretty amazing until you run out of fluid, or until it's no longer amazing...at which point it is still just a caravan, and even the 867 model of the EX felt a little gutless. @Capt. Chaos - what say you?

If you can put more ponies on it, then do so. The fact that the Caravan EX has less HP than the Garavan is inexcusable. -10s+ or GTFO, you've built an unairworthy machine. Not to meantion the fuel savings.

Owl's Head Transportation Museum in suburban Rockland (www.owlshead.org). On the grounds of the Knox County Regional Airport. WWI and 1920s vintage aircraft, most in flying condition, plus a restoration shop. They fly on most weekends! Also neat early cars, many of which can go faster than the aircraft.

85 very scenic miles north, under two hours by car (plus a stop for your lobstah roll).

I think most of the fleet is close to 20k hrs with one that went through the 20k inspection and that was a eye opener of the reoccurring cost and downtime that was coming with the rest of the fleet so reluctantly they are going to switch them out.

The other big draw back is pod 2 is half the size. For us that would be bumping 6 fishes boxes every trip. Over the life of the airframe that is a lot of lost revenue space.

Both the Garavan mods use the -12.
