King Air 350

Has anyone in here flown a KA350, If so how hard is it to handle compared to smaller planes. My friend is planning on taking me up in his families king air and i just want to be ready for it and not screw something up.

Spent many hours in the 350 and have the BE300 type. What's your experience background? It's as easy to fly as every other King Air out there but if you've never flown anything bigger than a Cessna 150 then it'll be a handful to the 10th degree. Very stable yet responsive on the controls. Easy to 'hurt' the engines if you've never flown a turbine airplane before. Don't worry - I'm sure your friend won't let you do anything to hurt the airplane......"sit back, relax, and enjoy the flight".

Just like a Baron! At least to me, but I've only flown the C90A and the 1900.
 
I have 2 or 3 hours in a single engine turboprop (TBM-700) but the King Air 350 is alot bigger so im just a little nervous.

Same basic things apply in a big airplane compared to a small airplane.

...pull back, houses get smaller. Keep pulling back, houses start getting bigger rooly fast!
 
But what are the finer points? are engine startups more difficult, landing?, climb? anythign different than TBM 700?

The King Air flies much differently than the TBM on one engine.

It takes experience in the airplane to learn the 'finer points' - it's not something we can teach you online. Engine starts aren't any more difficult (or easier) than any other turbine engine out there - engage starter, get engine rotation, introduce fuel, light off, stabilize. You won't be able to reach the starter switches anyway unless you're sitting in the left seat. Landing is not 'difficult' but it';s a much bigger airplane than a TBM so yeah it's going to be different to land - is it hard? No - correct approach speed, flare, land.

Is anything different than the TBM?? Yeah - alot.

I know you're excited about it and it is a cool airplane but you're not going to be able to become proficient in the 350 online - just go and enjoy the experience.

The only tip I can give you is that if the pilot does let you land the airplane be careful about pulling the power all the way out before you're on the ground.

One of the forest firefighting companies in Canada, Forest Protection Ltd I think, is selling their remaining fleet of these babies. Love to have one if I could!

I got to ride in the back of an Avenger way back when I was a cadiddle in CAP. One of the coolest flights I've ever been on.
