Kidney Stone in recent past

So about a year ago, just after I got my current medical certificate I passed a kidney stone. Now it's time to renew. I declared on the form that I had one and passed it. The AME was very unhelpful and I am not really sure what to do about it now. He basically told me to get my records from the ER I went to when I had the issue then call the FAA. No insight who to call, or what to tell them about.

I was kind of under the impression the paper work would still get submitted and my cert would be decided on at the next level above the AME. So what exactly am I supposed to do? He also thinks I might need a cat scan to show I don't have a stone. Should I go ahead and get that rolling?

Thank you.

I had this same issue, although it was almost ten years ago now, so the details are kind of fuzzy. I had a CT scan when i passed the stone, and they didnt make me get a second one. I can tell you i think it took about three months to get everything resolved. Hopefully the Dr can be more helpful and you can get this taken care of quicker than i did.

Get copies of the medical records. You need an Xray, CT scan or ultrasound report showing you no longer have a kidney stone. Gather it all together and sen it to:
Federal Aviation Administration
Aerospace Medical Certification Division, AAM-300
CAMI Building
6500 S. MacArthur Blvd
Oklahoma City, Oklahoma 73169

They will review it and tell what to do next.

This is again why I say see an AME who does 25+ medicals a month so they know how to handle these issues expeditiously.
