Good evening, everyone:

I am pretty much decide to go to ATP for my training. Currently, I am preparing my PPL checkride(Due to weather). I am also working behind local FBO counter to pay for my flght training(hourly rate is lower than McDonald's). I am getting my 1st class medical sometime in June.

The questions I have are
1. Do you register with ATP first before interview? or other way around?
2. How do you get ATP instructor to sign off for written exam(The FBO has one of laser grade test site)?

Thanks in advance

im not sure what you are meaning by registering exactly, but the process is

1) call atp, schedule an interview
2) go to interview and pay the interview fee
3) wait for a call from Jim K and put down a deposit to secure a start date
4) show up and start training

as for written tests, while you are in the program just talk to your instructor and (s)he will take care of it. The dallas location where i am has a CATS testing center onsite, and i imagine the rest do too. If you are wanting to take tests before you get to ATP, talk to a cfi/agi/igi at the FBO where you are working for a signoff and see what they require.

#1 Just like casey said, schedule an interview at an ATP site, maybe one you might want to go to. Show up on the interview day with fee in hand ($100), know you're PPL stuff and ask as many questions as possible. After about a week Jim will call you, if he doesn't because he's busy, take the initiative and call him.

He'll go over things like P-Factor, Accelerated Slipstream, Spiraling Slipstream, and Torque, as well as some airspace questions. Know these and you've got it down.

#2 They told me that when I was ready to take an exam, just call them, and they'll fax you a sign off if you already have a start date. That's it, good luck!

Adreamer, I am also down here in Dallas, but I took a different route to the writtens. After I paid my deposit I just called ATP in Houston to schedule the writtens. When I showed up they made me take a practice test with about 20 questions...then they let me take it.Get the writtens done! You can't go on your x-countries until they are finished.

Good morning, everyone:

Thanks for all you guys and gals suggestions. The only thing left is you are not able to start your cross country till you finish all your written - instruments, commercial, FOI...(what else I left out?) I guess I have to pick up book as soon as I decide starting date.
