Hi all,
Been gone/busy for the past few weeks and have not posted much but I did spend my weekend with AOPA and about 100 other CFIs from the Southern California area as my CFI ticket needed to be renewed.
I just thought I would say that if you are looking to renew your CFI, AOPA's program was very good, informative, and actually fun at times. There were a few boring moments but let's face it, dealing with the TSA is never fun.
Basically it is a two day course in a classroom type environment. Lots of speakers with presentations, questions, answers and so on. At the end of the course you take a little quiz. I don't think you can fail either unless you fail to attend the full 16 hrs.
Anyway, it was a great program and hopefully I will have my certificate in my hands within 120 days. If you are needing to renew and have a free weekend, AOPA is a good option.
That being said if you are looking for the cheapest option American Flyers is also out there with their lifetime renewal deal.
