jetblue now offering partial paid leaves to a handful of pilot in January.
At this point why would it return? They've been operating 3 years without it. Or have moved into the charter/corporate side. My current shop slowed down for about 2 months in 2020. Then it was back to normal ops. A buddy I had in charter told me the same thing. Corporate/charter is as busy as ever.Q1 sucks. After Jan 7 for 2024, travel just dies down. Business travel (which usually carriers Q1) still isn’t back from pre-pandemic levels.

Southern jets needs to hire more of our SEA FOs so I can escape the 2 leg commuteFunny, after all that, looks like we have about a normal amount of lines in Jan up here.

What does that mean?AA is now offering blank lines for the month of January in most bids.
What does that mean?

Like a reduced guaranteed line with 0 block. You get paid a figure that is lower than MMG but not zero and you have no flying to do. You're literally paid to stay home and not fly.
At least, that's what a VIL is. I'm guessing it's the same flavor with a different name at AA.
In most bases this will go very senior. Dropping down to 0 and then picking up what you want is the dream of many. There is no guarantee pay for the blank lines. As best I can tell it's like the zero time lines offered during covid. You don't get paid anything unless you pick up flying.
