I don't know much of anything about the work rules at JetBlue. What is "crappy" about their work rules? Scheduling issues, soft time, vacation, etc.?

I am not sure from personal experience - but that seems to be the consensus of the group and I was going along to get responses. Only issue I ever knew about was getting pilots involved in a study about max flying hours - and that seemed crappy.
Isn't this the same management that tried to push their crews to do trans-con turns?
I would submit that if they don't get close to that rate, then the RAH pilots will indeed be subject to more venom than they currently are. RAH put mainline pilots on the street - if their pilots accept less than a non-unionized airline flying the same airframe the commutes will get difficult in my opinion.
Is there anything that goes into this negotiation in which JB management said "hey...we still can maintain crappy work rules, but give them more pay. This will screw RAH as well as Airways when they have to negotiate their rates and will put even more pressure on them".
JetBlue and the FAA wanted to do a joint experiment to see if doing those turns were safe.
Not exactly, the FAA actually did not end up being so pleased when they were informed that JetBlue was conducting their own "study" with Pax on board.
I think Republic is operating the 190 at 94 seats so any additional payrates are a moot point.
Wow this is quite a surprise for a non-union carrier.
I suppose some will say "industry average" isn't doing anything to raise the bar but it is a huge step for us.
I would be interested in hearing from ATN/PCL and Velo on this issue. It would appear that they are no longer undercutting the piloting profession, but they are not union. So, where do the hardcore unionists sit with regards to the new JB pay?
Common misconception. FAA via FSDO knew what was going on.
YUP! Very true via company memo I read of a friends.... sad sad sad... and there's NOTHING they can do about it.
The pay is ok, but nothing to be really happy about.
Why don't you guys quit bringing down the industry.:laff:
Yeah, turning down that $182/hr rate from our last TA because it wasn't high enough is really "bringing down the industry."![]()
What kind of requirements does jetblue have? Do they take pilots from the regionals?
Other than vote NO on any TA that isn't representative of where they should be.
And yes, I voted YES on the contract that's in place now when I was there.
