Okay, now they're saying that they've confirmed that 320s CANNOT dump fuel, and that they're trying to simply burn fuel... what else could that liquid have been though? I specifically saw clear liquid exiting the tail cone of the aircraft.

/uneducated possible solution...

The APU is on in order to burn some more fuel maybe?

Just got cleared for the ILS.

Ever done a soft field landing on national TV?

Edit: Beautiful landing. Another aviation success story.

WOW!!!!!!!! PERFECT!!!!!!!!!! RIIIIIIIIIIIIIGHT DOWN THE CENTER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I BOW DOWN TO THOSE PILOTS... KUDOS!!!!!!!

And they say pilots are way overpaid. (whoever THEY are).

Great Job by the crew. !!!!

Wow, that was a perfect landing, it looks like he used much of the runway, which I figured would happen.

Does anyone know why they didn't use reverse after touchdown, or so it seems.

haha, pilots are very well paid, arent they?

Hey... just wondering... wouldnt they want some sort of support while unboarding? Like, the nose strut is still holding while they're unloading, but who knows when it might give way

SOFT field landings = minimal braking

so i take it when they landed, the wheel straightened up.. so maybe just something with the center pin then eh?!

so question is - did they know what the problem would be when the "landing gear not retracting" light came on? is there a little peephole they can see below to see what hte problem was or did they get the news from someone on the ground that their gear was turned 90 degrees?

glad everyone is safe and sound!

They did a low approach at Long Beach and LGB TWR advised them of their problem. I'd imagine that they just got some sort of red light / indicator that said that the gear will not retract.

wow she's pretty scandalous for news reporting.

anyways sweet landing, i would buy him a beer if i was 21. f that, i'll just get some from a friend.

Any official word on whether or not the A320 can jettison fuel? Any A320 pilots here?

And Kristie ... no, the wheel did not straighten out. The wheel melted down to what looked like nothing.
