I am looking to purchase a book that would be considered VERY elementary introduction to jet engines.

Any suggestions?

I thought that the Turbine Pilot's Flight Manual offered excellent explanations of engines and other systems you see a lot on transport-catergory aircraft--simple enough that even a troglodyte like me could understand.

This book goes into quite a bit of detail and is
meant for an A&P but it' great.

Very good online information. The Rolls-Royce sight has a good flash animation that takes you in a 3-d journey through a jet engine.
