Well, physics-wise, a rocket is a kind of jet... ;
I'm more interested in how the thing didn't tear itself apart...
I sure wouldn't want to fly plane with interconnected rudder/ailerons and added rockets. At least not for the first flight.
 
At around 20 seconds into the video, you can see one of the rockets explode/fly off/otherwise disappear very rapidly.

Other than that, JATO/RATO Ercoupe looks fun.

I saw that as well.

Good thing it wasn't attached to the aircraft and in flight at the time.
