Headline: JAL posts fivefold first-half profit increase

Japan Airlines parent JAL Group reported net income for its fiscal first half ended Sept. 30 of ¥36.6 billion ($37.3 million), a more than fivefold increase from ¥7.3 billion in the year-ago period, crediting aircraft downsizing, route restructuring, cost cutting and new premium product strategies on international routes.
