They're here, and they're queer!... umm, no, okay, nevermind. Hey, so anyway, I finally got around to processing 348 RAW photos, which, some of them never made it out in public for certain reasons. So! With that, you may go onto either my FB page to view them, or if Kristie posts them on the ACE Facebook page you can see them there. Enjoy!

Very nice shots & in some of the rooms the lighting was a pain to work with:clap:

Thanks penguiy! Yes... it sure was a pain. A lot of the shots were f/3.5 and 1600 ISO. While the lens I used is still sharp at f/2.8, f/3.5 is so much clearer if you manage to hold the camera still enough (aided by a sober and still grasp!).

Great shots! Seen many of the others elsewhere and I'm glad the history- and the people- were recorded.

As ACE and the industry evolve and grow, we'll all be able to look back and say we were all there way back when- and that's how it was.

This isn't just 'us' being recorded- it's history. Excellent work, Jace!

Did you use a wide angle?

Yes. Tamron 17-50mm f/2.8 - one of the best non-Canon lenses out there for a great price ($450). But, since it's on a crop body 17mm isn't really that much. Next year I should have my 5D Mk I with a Canon 17-40 f/4L and 24-70 f/2.8L, along with 580EX for the event. :D

Great shots.

Thank you. Pedro took quite a few of the people shots - it was nice to have him running around snapping random photos.

Thanks, I can't wait for next year. What I'll probably do next year is bring a fun Vegas-style backdrop with my lighting equipment for people to do fun portrait shots... and then print them off right there for them to take as souvenirs. What do you think of this idea Kristie?

I like it! We just have to make sure we can afford a nice graphics printer but other than that, it should work

i thought about doing that with the banner sign we had this year but we didn't have a photographer on hand and i just ended up being way to busy :p

Do you have one of those portable flashes to make the light seem a bit softer though (for the people shots)?

You can get them printed through a mailorder print shop for not that much money (much cheaper than a large format printer).

Yes... I have a collection of wirelessly triggered portable strobes, umbrellas, and softboxes for the portraiture work I do. The only pic I have of a setup is from a photoshoot I did a couple of years ago:

Nice. I've got the Canon 15-55/2.8 IS and it's a SWEET lens. But I'm also really fond of my Sigma 30/1.4. Just bought a used 50D as well. Also in my bag is the Canon 10-22 and a 70-200/2.8 IS. I should really show up next year......

There are some inexpensive 5x7 dye-sub printers out there that can do a decent job at fairly quick speeds. Instead of a Vegas backdrop you may consider just a chroma blue backdrop. It by itself can look pretty cool, or you can just drop in any background you want via software. Yes, kinda cheesy but we're not exactly aiming for high art here.

I think it wold still be nice to find a Mac Pro laptop to use during the event and run lightroom on it and try and scarf any many images as we can.
