Italian Frecce Tricolori midair - all 3 aircraft ok

Yesterday, during an airshow on the island of Pantelleria, 3 aircraft of the Italian formation aerobatics team Frecce Tricolori collided. All 3 returned safely to the airport after suffering some major structural damage, but one went off the runway after landing. Everyone is OK both pilots and spectators.

The Frecce are the crown jewel of Italian aviation, the only team to use 10 aircraft and probably the most exciting performance you'll ever see. The pilots did an exceptional job getting back safely and I guess props to the MB339 for being a really stout aircraft
 
According to one of my former blue angel buddies, midairs in the pre-season el Centro training environment were commonplace. Not much more than trading paint off the wingtips in that case. But it was still interesting
