IRA and FII knowledge question

I have taken my IRA and passed it but can I also take the FII test? Do I need another endorsement? It has been 2 months passed since my IRA test.

Heres a multi-part question:

1. Do I need to take the FOI/FIA test first in order to take the FII?

2. What is the difference between the FII and AIF (added rating) tests?

3. Is the FOI, FIA, FII, the only ones to become a CFII?

thanks!

Hey congrats on the IR. Its definitely a whole new world. As for the FII, you can take it (if I remember correctly) without another endorsement.

1. You don't have to take the FOI test before your FII. You can do them in any order that you choose.

2. Im not entirely sure about this one. Just stick with FII-A.

3. As far as written tests go, thats it.

Good luck with that. I took my FII written right after I took the Instrument written. It helped a lot because it came from the same question bank. I don't know if/how the written exams have changed, so who knows now. In the end, it saved me a lot of time and hassle later on. Just make sure you plan to get you CFII within 24 calendar months. I would hate to have to retake a written exam, especially with how much they are charging now.
