Iola, Kansas??

Looks like a nice school and the programs are affordable. I would be looking to go for my multi and the cfi program (cfi, cfii, mei). However, where in the world is Iola, Kansas? Anything to do around Iola? I guess maybe if theres not it would be a good thing for studying. Also it says prices do not include taxes. I was not aware of a tax on flight training....maybe the FBO I go to now just includes it in the cost. Any info from current students would be a help, thanks!

It's about 60 or so miles SW of Kansas City. I landed there once at night to pick up fuel because it was so cheap. I swear they have the cheapest fuel prices on the planet. Kind of creepy. Not sure what there is to do there, probably not much I would imagine. How much is their CFI/CFII program there? do you have a website? Thanks.

I've also landed there a couple of times to get their cheap fuel. As I recall there's pretty much nothing around there. I remember one time I was there and a DA-40 was landing and his brakes caught on fire. Then my friend and I tried to leave and our battery was dead and we tried to hand prop his cherokee but failed miserably and I ended up late for work. I think that's the last time I went there.

I call it e-i-e-Iola

You will have a wonderful opportunity to study, because there is nothing else to do. coming to KC will be like going to Paris.

I think they have a great setup, especially for students coming out of town though there is not much to do in Iola.. PM me for more information.

Iola is a great place to go to get away from everything and focus on flying because there are absolutely no distractions AT ALL! The place is in the middle of wheat fields for crissake, but that works out great to knuckle down and get stuff done. They have nice housing there, as well as a car to get you into town to see such tourist attractions as the Taco Bell, a pretty nice movie theater, one bar, and Walmart. I racked up alot of cross country hours visiting places that were far away from Iola, and it worked out well!

lol thanks for the feedback! "...visit tourist attractions such as the taco bell..." hahaha.

We are located right on the airport. There isn't a lot to do outside of flying (it's a pretty small town, maybe 8,000 people). We do have satellite and wireless internet :). There are quite a few larger towns like Wichita, Topeka, Lawrence, and Kansas City that we fly to often.
Our instructors, Rob Jordan and Sherri DeSpain (me), also live here at the airport. It really is a nice training environment for everyone involved.
