Internships - Age limit?

Hello Everyone,

Recent threads got me to thinking about internships. I've always associated them with college seniors on Summer break. But is that always the case? Can a middle-aged career changer be an intern as well? Are there any age or educational requirements?

Thanks y'all,

JR

I'm sorry. Did you say something? I was looking at Alisha.

All the internships I really know of require that you be persuing a degree in aviation. Some require that you have your Commercial License as well. It really depends on the airline. Most of the information I got was via my university's career service program. Internships are pretty hard to come by.

Good luck

I'm not sure about age requirements for internships. Some internships require a certain GPA or pilot's liscense. As flyn_ace_99 said, it depends on the company.

Oh yeah... GPA too! But I don't think I have heard of age... It's mostly academics and flight time. I lucked out and got one based on my academics.

Good luck again!

Sounds more like hard work, rather than luck.
Good on ya!

. I must say I did work hard and consitering I went into the internship without even a private pilot's license

, it was interesting to see how well I actually did compared to my peers with Commercial or higher raitings. The instructors who taught my groundschool sessions either believed I had my commercial license or under estimated me and came out at the end of the Flight Training Device session in utter disbelief. (hehe) I must say thanks to Embry Riddle Prescott Campus' strong academics in Turbines and Systems and Components... those classes in particular made learning RJ systems extremely easy. Now I am at Airline Transport Professionals (ATP) in Florida earning all my licenses and hope to be back at ExpressJet soon!

Thanks again!

Let me just say that everyone I know who works for SkyWest loves it. Plus, the corporate communications people are just great.

Most, if not all, internships require you be in college with a certain GPA. Possibly also a Commercial certficate and aviation degree program requirement. We have those requirements now.
