I got little chuckle out of reading this yesterday while I had a guy inbound to the Nome, AK airport... my only question is: Shook the dirt loose from... what? his head? the cabin ceiling??

You'd be amazed at the crap that comes out of the headliner of an old unpressurized piston twin when you take a good thump.

heh... the OP is around Alaskan Navajos every day. And also around Alaskan bush pilots every day, who do the majority of the grunt work themselves... loading/unloading pax and cargo, baggage handling, fueling, taking seats off and on (depending on the load)... so in addition to the dirt around the inside of the cabin, there's always dirt around the outside of the pilot, too. So, my question is still perfectly valid. ;)
