Is there a difference in getting an instrument rating for a multi or single? Or is an instrument rating an instrumet rating?
I'm comparing a Flight school with ATP and i'm trying to figure out what is my best option. Take a look at this link and tell me what u think. I already have my PPL and i currently rent from these guys so i know they are a good place i'm just having a hard time deciding what will be best for me.

An instrument rating is an instrument BUT......

If you have an instrument rating ASEL, and get your multi ticket, you have to do certain IFR maneuvers (such as a single-engine ILS) to get the IR transferred onto your AMEL certificate. It is possible to me instrument rated in a single and not in a multi and vice versa. You must demonstrate the ability in both.

True, I got my instrument single and then 3 weeks later did the multi. I had to do 1 ILS approach with a circle to land--I believe the hood time was about .3. Then when I went back to add multi to my commercial certificate I didn't have to do any hood work.
