Instrument/CFII knowledge test

I'll be taking the instrument knowledge test soon and was wondering if I can have the exam also count as the CFII written. Do I need to have a separate endorsement in my logbook to do that? Will my score remain valid up to 24 months before I have to take the test again?
 
You need to take a seperate exam for the CFII but the test bank is the same. There are no endorsments needed for any of the CFI writtens. The test is good for 2 years.

The test for instrument and CFII are both from the same set of questions.

IIRC the CFII is actually shorter than the instrument.

You must take them sperately.

There is no required endorsement for the CFII test.

You can take your instrument, then take the CFII the next day.
 
Or you can do like I did, and take both exams on the same day. Might as well take them together while the information is still fresh in your head. The Instrument (IRA) is 60 questions, Instrument Instructor (FII) is 50 questions.

Right!! My bad, brain fart I guess. What I was thinking about is the above endorsement, which mentions 'knowledge test', but it is certainly not required before the FOI written.
