Instructing job or otherwise in Chicago 750TT 230 Multi 490 Dual Given

Currently, I am instructing at a 141 gig in east Texas. It's time for a change so I am looking for any job that will get me back in Chicago. Instructing is the most obvious choice. Anyone know of any flight schools that are hiring in the Chicagoland area?

I joined 350 and see multiple instructor jobs daily. Consider going south for winter?
My current gig is great to work at but it's location is less than desireable. I'm from Chicago so if I were going to move for instructing it would be to Chicago. If I could get another job actually flying an airplane I would move anywhere.

You find underpaid and overworked to be great? How about the new rules generated each month? I thought otherwise while I was there. I see regular listings for Chicago area flight schools on big orange (like others have said). Come find me when you get 1200tt and I can get you hooked up with a 135 cargo outfit. Yes, I went to school there. Yes, I worked there for a long time.:bang:

Bitter much? ;)

Anyways... there are a few places up there I've heard of in the recent past looking for CFIs. My advice would be to join one of the job sites. If I see anything I will post it on here for ya. I had some work at a little place west of Milwaukee for a while and they seemed to be pretty busy. Maybe something temporary in the south to get your times up? I see places all over FL and TX hiring. I've rented a temp room a few times for work. It sucks not living at home but at you're stage of the game (and mine) you'll probably find the need to be flexible.

Eh. The paychecks need to be bigger but they always showed up. Equipment was good and well maintained. Students, syllabus, and facilities were all provided.
The biggest issues I had were the aforementioned new safety policy every week and the management attitude that they were doing us all a favor letting us work there. FR actually tells people in interviews that he knows the pay is low, but they're paying in experience. That attitude and it's resulting actions by management are ground zero for why CFI turnover is so high and people get burned out. On top of that it's totally out of line with the Christian worldview they're supposed to be working under. Oh and revising the syllabus every time someone figured out how to teach it drove me nuts. And...and...and...

Still better than a lot of CFI gigs out there and at least the students spoke English.

So, does anyone know anywhere in Chicago that is hiring CFIs? I've already thrown a few resumes out there.

Well I feel like bumping this thread instead of making a new one. Does anyone know of any jobs in the Chicago area instructing for the summer? I'm over 1000 TT and 750 dual given. I would also take a job actually flying an airplane and move anywhere.

200 more hours (assuming the rest of the 135 mins are in line too) should open up some doors.

@scott_l

Please seek out this flight school called Eagle Aircraft, located at KVPZ. I don't know how its staffing needs look so far, but I know for a fact that it often hires additional CFIs during the summer.

Which school are you currently at right now?
