Hey I was just wondering if anyone has any experence good or bad with American Flyers? And could tell me about their experence with them. They don't really have their own thread so I didn't know where else to post this. I did find out that aparently the whole 141 thing was basicly invented by them, they've been around a while.

Much thanks,

My best pilot friend went there during the 80's. He claims he did their Inst-CFII/MEI in 4 months, much to their doubts.

I did their online CFI renewal a couple of months ago. First time I ever did something like that. They obviously spent a lot of time on it. Worked for me.

How much are their flying programs these days?

Much thanks,

I went to American Flyers CFI Academy mid November of last year as an Instrument rated Private Pilot and left in early December as a CFII. It was expensive but I was working as a CFI much sooner than I could have done locally. After working as a CFI for a year, I was recently hired as a consultant at FAA Headquarters where I can combine my past business analysis experience (MBA) with my aviation experience to contribute to projects that will revolutionize the National Airspace. I would not be where I am today if it weren't for AF's CFI program.

I would not recommend Flyers for incremental ratings due to the expense, but the CFI Academy at Addison was worth it for me.

These posts cover my thoughts on the experience:
