INFO FOR PUB ANNOUNCEMENT - Panel to meet in July

Just got off the phone with OKC, I learned a couple of things I thought I would share.

First, they will be meeting in JULY to select who goes further for this announcement. Seems like a long time but maybe that is fast compared to the older hiring process.

They will be sending out an email SHORTLY (beginning to mid April she said) about selecting your geographic preferences. THIS IS AWSOME. I've been reading a lot and it seems there was some confusion some people put some locations down, others listed none either way I asked if those preferences were set in stone (I want to change mine badly) and she said no another agency will send out an email and they are setting up a website where you will select your top choices. totally sweet.

That's pretty much it, so we'll select where we 'prefer' to go in April, they will I assume make referral lists then???*not sure*??? Then we get selected for interviews after those regional panels meet in July

That makes sense to me. Still wish it would be May/June but hey atleast I have some answers. I was a quite clueless before, now I'm just a little clueless
 
Good work, FedererFan. Today I still took in the geographic preference form I found on the FAA website. As stated before, my top state of choice is meeting next month according to the person I spoke with earlier this week. I was hoping to get on a referral list before then. If I don't get on a referral list by then, I'll just have to wait until July, but I figured at least this way I've attempted to let them know my preferences. As I've read elsewhere on these boards (and as FedererFan has pointed out), you have to be proactive throughout this process in order to see any progress.

I actually called OKC today too, and was told basically the same thing about the location selection. The lady I spoke to said that an email will be going out shortly and we'll be able to select our geographic preferences then. She didn't say anything about being selected in July though. She said she didn't know what would be the next step after that.

Also, for anyone that's interested, she said the panel for Florida will be meeting May 6th-9th.
 
If the website truly does come out say...next week (first week of April), I wonder if we would be considered for the boards meeting in April/May. I wonder how long it would actually take from declaring preferences to getting referred.
 
Probably not, bc they still have not completed all of the Public 2007 announcements. I know for fact there are about 9 or 10 states that they havent made referral lists for but plan on doing so. The process was really backed up in 07 and last I heard they were trying to complete those before creating lists for the 2008 pub announcement. I hope they do get to the 2008 soon, I have a few buddies who applied to that one and will be taking the test in April. Good luck guys!!
 
I don't think anyone from the Feb pub announcement will be considered at the May panel meetings. I called OKC to see if my application would be included for the GA panel meeting and she said only if you applied for that state last year (which I didn't). I was hoping she could just forward the information and test score on to them and speed this up a bit :) Oh well, guess I will have to wait until July.
 
Im new to these boards so let me know if this sounds right.
1. Sometime in april fill out geographic preferences
2. Based on preferences the panel supposedly meeting in July creates referral lists.
3. After you on a referral list you get you begin you interview process (PEPC), probably mid to late August???
4. Assumming all goes well then you are off to OKC. I've read two things first that you go to OKC about a month after your interview, second i've read that you may not be sent to OKC until after the govmnt fiscal year wich ends sept/oct.

I applied for the Feb '08 public announcement if that helps to answer my questions.
